Located in Dutchess County in Fishkill, Elisa's Takeouts has been a fixture for the past 14 years before closing permanently on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The restaurant's owners made the announcement on Facebook saying they loved the business and the customers even more.
"To all our wonderful customers, we are sad to inform you that we are closing our doors as of Oct 18th, 2023," the owners wrote. "For us, nothing has been more rewarding than people's faces when they see their food, or when we hear how they enjoyed it, and the connection our food created with people."
Known for their Sabrett hot dogs smothered in homemade chili, jumbo chicken wings, burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, and soups, the restaurant was a mainstay for many coming home from a busy day at work or a quick lunch spot.
The little restaurant tucked along I-84 was also a hot spot for ice cream and desserts.
The owners didn't give a reason why they are closing, but did thank in writing a long list of regular customers and their landlord for being "so great."
"We have truly loved serving you all and we are sorry to disappoint you," the owners said on Facebook. "Your support has always meant a lot to us. The last 14 years have flown by and we will never forget you."
No word yet on what might take Elisa's place.
